Scientist for an Evil Organization Volume 1 Chapter 24 part 1

Chapter 24: About Lurun

Fairies are higher spiritual beings – they do not have a soul as an organ in their body, but rather their soul itself is a magical power generator that becomes their body. They are considered to be spiritual life forms of a higher order than humans.

Due to this characteristic, fairies boast far greater magical power than humans.

They are also not immortal but ageless, and it is said that they do not produce offspring.

Fairies are born unintentionally within the workings of nature.

The mechanism by which they are born spontaneously in the natural world has not yet been elucidated, and some refer to fairies as “gifts from God.”

However, in a certain other dimension, their absolute numbers were decreasing, and fairies were facing the crisis of extinction.

Most fairies have an exquisitely beautiful appearance.

It was the notorious evil organisation Delnkeim, led by their chief Serreiza, who took notice of this.

They would simply capture fairies at random and sell them to households they favored. “It’s an easy way to make money,” they thought as they hunted fairies indiscriminately.

For this reason, even now after generations have passed, fairies fear Delnkeim and its leader Serreiza as the tyrannical evil chief. Some even abandoned their homelands to flee to other dimensions.

It was in such circumstances that the moonlight fairy Lisa, met Kannazuki Sayuki born under special circumstances, spent a lonely childhood.

The fairy of flames, Faruha, met the girl Akane Yuki who had given up basketball due to a knee injury.

God’s gifts often appear before those who are unfortunate.

In other words, Asahina Moe too had her share of misfortune.

“Waaahh! My sister ate my pudding again!?”

Yes, Moe had been looking forward to the special pudding a la mode (tax included 480 yen) that her parents had bought for her.

But her high school sister had simply said “Oops, I ate it” and devoured it without permission.

Perhaps it was this immense sadness that summoned a miracle. The visiting fairy Mae comforted Moe, saying “Cheer up, okay?” Mae was still a young fairy, and her standards for misfortune were quite lax.

The reason Moe became the fairy princess Lurun is simple.

“There are people doing bad things. There are people trying hard to stop them. Then I have to try hard too!”

Bad things should not be done. If there are people working hard, she wanted to help them. From a childlike goodness, Lurun threw herself into the fight.

Due to these circumstances, while her basic abilities are high, her combat evaluation is inferior to that of Fiona and Eres when compared.

She is not good at fighting or harboring malice. More than her abilities, her will to fight was weak.

One day, such a girl… Moe sent a message to Haruhiko Hakase, saying she had something important to tell him.

– This is a “wager.”

Moe took a deep breath and quietly made up her mind.

[Haru-san] was an adult man she had met by chance at a cafe.

He was cool, an important person at his company but not arrogant, and could even do fortunes – an amazing person. He would properly engage with children like them. He was kind, and they had become very close friends by now.

To Moe, it felt like she had gained a reliable older brother. Would that make Miina her older sister? She doesn’t know any sister who eats her pudding without permission.

Moreover, he had sent her a message saying, “I think of you as a very dear friend.” She was so happy that she read his words over and over again.

But recently, whenever she thought of [Haru-san], her heart felt uneasy.

So Moe called him to the park. She wanted to confront him directly and clearly understand the source of this uneasiness.

“Hey, Moe-chan.”

When Moe arrived at the park after school, [Haru-san] had come earlier and was waiting for her.

Sayuki often said, “Haruhiko-san seems to be busy with work.” Yet he welcomed her with a smile, not looking at all bothered by her company.

“Hello, Haru-san!”

“Yes, hello. Just getting out of school?”

“Ehehe, yes.”

It started with some light chit-chat.

She talked about things that had happened at school, like how one of the boys in her class always teased her – just ordinary daily happenings. [Haru-san] listened with a kind expression.

The chatter was a lot of fun. Although she really wanted to indulge a bit more, Moe made up her mind to get to the main point.

“Haru-san, I have a request.”

“Hmm, what is it?”

“Um, could you kneel down and crouch, please?”

Although he looked puzzled, he crouched down as she had asked.

Since he was tall, she usually had to look up at him. But now [Haru-san]’s face was close, and their eyes met at the same level.

Right then, Moe tightly hugged [Haru-san].

“Wha!? M-Moe-chan!?”

He seemed flustered, but she ignored it, wrapping her arms around his body and squeezing tightly.

When she took a deep breath, she smelled something nice. It had a comforting scent.

She had hugged Sayuki and Akane before, but this felt different. [Haru-san] looked slender but was quite sturdy.

“What’s wrong, Moe-chan? Did something bad happen?”

Saying that, he stroked her head. Being worried about and treated so kindly, she felt truly happy.

But there was something she wanted to ask.

Moe pulled back once and then looked straight into [Haru-san]’s eyes.

“Please tell me. Are you Halvied-san from the organization?”

And so the young girl confronted him with the uneasiness and suspicions she had been harboring for so long.

157: Anonymous Combatant

I’m a figurine model maker.

I work at a manufacturing company, but I also participate in fests as a side gig to earn some extra cash.

So at the last fest, I released an Eres figurine and man, was it crazy popular.

It set a new personal record for sales.

158: Anonymous Combatant

I’d totally want an Eres figurine. Want to make her do a high kick.

159: Anonymous Combatant

I thought it’d be iffy talking about this here, but when I checked there are actually some places making Lost Fairies figurines. Even some companies have gotten in on it, huh.

160: Anonymous Combatant

There’s actually also been demand to make a Hakase figurine too.

161: Anonymous Combatant

Lol.

162: Anonymous Combatant

I so want that lol A Hakase figurine would be amazing lollol

163: Anonymous Combatant

Feels like a new internet toy craze is being born lol

164: Hakase

Oh no, Lurun found out my real identity.

165: Anonymous Combatant

I’m gonna take funny pics with a Hakase figurine and make a thread lol

166: Anonymous Combatant

Eh? For real?

167: Anonymous Combatant

You’re lying right?

168: Anonymous Combatant

Hakase what are you doing!?

169: Anonymous Combatant

That’s seriously bad news isn’t it.

170: Hakase

I never expected to be exposed like this either. Honestly, I’m quite perplexed.

171: Anonymous Combatant

What happened?

172: Anonymous Combatant

The mood shifted real quick from the silly banter. Go ahead and tell us anyway?

173: Hakase

It was about this evening.

Lurun sent me a message saying “I want to talk, can we meet up?”

We often send each other pictures, so it’s not unusual for Lurun to want to hang out.

I headed to the promised park like usual.

174: Hakase

At first we just chatted casually.

Apparently there’s a boy in her class who’s mean to Lurun.

Thinking “boys can be so oblivious sometimes”, I told her she could rely on me if anything happened.

And then the problematic moment arrived:

Lurun: “Hakase-san, could you crouch down for me?”

Me: “Hm? Like this?”

Lurun: “Hup!” *hugs*

Lurun came and hugged me while I was crouched down. And she wrapped her arms around my neck too, squeezing me tight.

175: Anonymous Combatant

Officer, this one right here.

176: Anonymous Combatant

Yes, apprehend and detain!

177: Anonymous Combatant

M-Man: “Welcome to my domain…”

178: Anonymous Combatant

We just witnessed a top-tier being at his worst lol

179: Hakase

Now now, I know how it sounds but it’s actually a serious story.

Then Lurun said to me:

Lurun: “Please tell me. Are you Halvied-san from the organization?”

I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my mouth.

180: Anonymous Combatant

Ehhh…….
