Epilogue
“Elteel! You! Hey! Come here for a moment!”
“That’s why! That’s not how you do it here! Are your ears rotting!?”
Norman heard the two voices echoing through the detective agency [Elementary].
First, he looked at Lonzder in the kitchen and Elteel, who had been called by her.
“Haa. What is it? You’re so loud.”
“Of course I’m loud! What is this tea?”
“I mixed alcohol into the freshly brewed tea just as you requested.”
“What idiot puts rubbing alcohol in it!? The aroma doesn’t make any sense anymore!?”
“But you drink that regularly, don’t you?”
“Just because I do doesn’t mean you mix it with tea!? What happened to the brandy!?”
Lonzder complained, but Elteel deflected her anger.
When Norman turned his gaze to the living room,
“No, no. You’re looking at the sheet music? You’re the one completely ignoring the musical notation, you know?”
“No, no. The previous version was definitely better. Since we’re turning a trio into a duet, it can’t be helped that we fiddle with it a bit, right?”
“Hahaha, you. What do you think our friend’s posthumous work is?”
“That’s that, this is this.”
Shizuku held a violin and Cklares held a cello as they both peered at a single sheet of music, arguing.
Seeing these scenes, Norman laughed.
“Well… both pairs have gotten along well.”
“Hey, are your eyes rotting?”
“I agree with Lonzder-san. Norman-kun? How do you see them as getting along?”
“I’ve started to find Lonzder-san’s tantrums rather endearing though.”
“Oh, I think I’ll agree with Elteel-san. Shizuku-chan’s harsh words that go beyond sharp tongue have become enjoyable too. I wonder if this is what having a little sister would be like. Why don’t you try calling me ‘onii-chan’?”
“Huh? Gross.”
Norman’s smile deepened.
“…Norman, your way of laughing is pretty creepy.”
“Is that so? It can’t be helped. Lonzder-san and El, Shizuku and Cklares each did their best, after all.”
“Hmm.”
Lonzder took a drag from her cigarette,
“Hey, tear flower and fairy. How was it on your side?”
“Well. Shizuku-chan and I unfolded serious drama full of tears, sadness, and heartbreak.”
“I don’t think that’swrong, but I think it’s somehow different. How about on your side?”
“Well. It was like ka-boom, squish, whoosh! Ka-doom! I suppose.”
“Hey wait, you. Why did you lower your intelligence quotient like that?”
“Well, because when I think back on it, wasn’t it pretty stupid?”
“Damn, I can’t deny it…!”
Again, the corners of Norman’s mouth turned up.
“Speaking of thinking back, Norman-kun, there’s something I absolutely have to ask you.”
“Hm? What’s wrong?”
“About you and Iris-san. What’s this about being former fiancés?”
“Huh? Hey, what’s that about?”
“Norman-sama?”
“Oh, as expected of Shizuku-chan, I was thinking I had to ask about that too.”
“How about it, Norman-kun?”
“Hmm.”
Four pairs of eyes turned toward Norman.
Each of the four who had confronted their respective pasts.
Rolling the badges colored in four different hues lovingly in his hand.
He shrugged his shoulders and said casually, without showing any emotion,
“I forgot.”

Afterword
What would you do if a past you thought was over suddenly caught up with the present?
This was the theme this time.
Called a monster, defining oneself as a monster, throwing away even one’s human name, and being loved completely by monsters—that doesn’t mean the fact that one was human becomes nonexistent.
For the adult group of Elteel and Lonzder, the past is the past and they can compartmentalize it, but for the adolescent group of Shizuku and Cklares, what they thought was over wasn’t over at all… that was the story.
In volume one, I focused only on their relationships with Norman, so this time I wrote from the perspective of “Well, what kind of personalities do these four have when Norman isn’t involved?” This was enjoyable. I hope you could see the individual characters that they didn’t show to Norman.
As a result, Norman, who should be the protagonist, barely appears, but oh well.
Last time, he displayed his creepiness thoroughly across two pages, but this time I hope his final line made you think “what a terrible guy he is.”
Once again, I’m Ryu-no-suke.
Thank you for purchasing [I tell you, Monster,] volume two.
In these times when even putting out a second volume isn’t easy, I was relieved to be able to deliver it like this. This time featured a super combo of two and two, but if there’s a next time, I’d like to write Elementary in yet another different form.
Volume one had a mystery flavor, this time I indulged my hobbies and went full-throttle with action, so I’d like to bring out different flavors in those areas too.
And my gratitude to those who were involved in the production of this book.
My editor, thank you for suggesting creative approaches to the illustrations this time too. The double-page spread special attack is cool. It’s the best.
Geso-king-sensei for the illustrations. Everything is cool and adorable, thank you so much. The cover is particularly irresistible. I feel a great responsibility (entirely on my own) that I must publish four volumes and line up all four characters, or it would be a betrayal to all the readers, so please continue to work with me.
Also, I was supported by many people including the designer and the publicity department in publishing this book.
Again and again, thank you.
And so, if we meet again, it will be when the wind blows.
