I Tell You Monster. Volume 2 Chapter 1 part 11

“Is it the same as that freak who clung to Norman-sama…!?”

“Wrong, you idiot! Tch… [Dordinium], was it? Damn, didn’t expect it to be that hard… Or more like, shock absorption and diffusion? How the hell do you even make metal like that?”

“……So in that instant, [First Burst Extreme] was blocked?”

“Yeah. [Viblade] caught it and scattered most of the force.”

“Hyahahaha! Hey, hey, hey! At least praise my reflexes! Though for a second, I thought my whole arm—and my skull—were gonna get blown off!”

With a roaring laugh, Whisper swept back his blood-soaked hair.

“Damn, color me impressed. The Hell Hound’s fog aside, you can’t coordinate, so you built your teamwork around that. Without [Viblade], I’d be dead. Hell of a move.”

“Hyaha!” He grinned.

“Fuuuuuuu—Hell yeah. This is gettin’ fun! Now we’re talkin’!”

With his right hand gripping [Viblade], he twisted the pommel with his left.

“A cylinder swap?” Elteel thought for a moment.

No.

He hadn’t even used much since the last reload.

Instead, from the twisted pommel, a triple-pronged blade extended—and then the pommel itself detached from the hilt.

But it wasn’t just disconnected. A thin, transparent tube stretched between the hilt and pommel, linking them.

“Ngaaaaaaah…!”

Then, he drove the pommel’s blade into his own heart.

“Wha—!?”

Immediately, crimson blood flowed through the tube into [Viblade]’s main body.

But the transformation didn’t stop there.

“Limit Release————”

The instant his heart’s blood reached the weapon, the iron-plate gears inside shifted, their teeth jutting past the blade’s edge.

Blood sprayed from the protruding ridges—and from the recesses, short blades sprouted.

Then, with a high-pitched gyuuuiiin, they began spinning, tearing through the air.

“Hyaha!”

The bomb-maniac’s lips curled into a grin.

“Hyaha! Hyahaha!”

It didn’t stop. It grew louder, wilder—

“─────[Viblade: Morrígan]!”

He raised the transformed weapon—now a chainsaw-like rotating gear-blade—and roared its name.

At that moment, the blood leaking from his head ignited.

The upper half of his skull, hair and all, burst into flames. Yet he didn’t care.

“Second Herb! ‘With the tracks of blood, purge the aberrant sickness!’—Whoo! Not my words, by the way! The [Artisan] made me say that crap when I use this thing! And hey, my head’s on fire—fuckin’ hilarious! Oh, and he also said ‘Direct heart-blood supply means you die if you use it for more than three minutes.’ Whatever! Hyaha, hyahahahaha!”

Burning his body, his life, the man became a demon of flame and screamed:

“HYAAH-HAA────H! Let’s go, HEAT STERILIZATION!”

“What the hell is this────!?”

Lonzder shouted—uncharacteristically for her, or perhaps, unbecoming of a detective.

She didn’t understand.

She hadn’t heard of any Limit Release function. Blades sprouting from gears? Whisper’s head on fire?

It made no sense.

She’d seen plenty of absurdities over the past year and a half. She thought she was used to it.

Unlaw. Those who had become something other than human.

Monsters beyond comprehension.

“But this is just ridiculous…!”

Owen Whisper wasn’t an Unlaw. He was human.

…Assuming you could still call this—a man swinging a spinning blade, drenched in blood, his head aflame—human.

He was no longer just the bomb-maniac, no longer the vengeance-obsessed ghost.

The word demon flashed through Lonzder’s mind.

“HYAH-HA!”

The demon lunged, swinging [Viblade].

Before, he’d only flung explosive blood from a distance.

But now, it was something else entirely.

“Whoa—!?”

A flaming slash came flying.

Deep red at the core, fading to pale yellow at the edges—a gradient of fire.

Likely, the blood ejected from the gear mechanism ignited instantly, while the trailing spray, lacking enough air or force, combusted with a delay. A result of extremely precise output control.

The result?

“Tch…!”

“Grr…!”

Lonzder and Elteel leapt aside as the fiery slash passed between them—

or rather, exploded upon hitting the ground.

Wincing at the intensified blast, Lonzder yelled:

“Elteel, fall back!”

“What──?!”

“You mutt! Charge into that chainsaw abomination at his reaction speed, and you’ll get diced on the counter!”

“Tch… But──”

Beyond the flames, Elteel hesitated—but Lonzder had no time to wait.

“Chat time’s over, bitch!”

Whisper stepped in, slamming the spinning saw downward.

Lonzder shifted her left foot back, twisting her torso to evade at the last moment. Simultaneously, she threw a right-handed jab—but it cut through empty air.

The demon had sunk his body with the swing.

Then, twisting [Viblade]’s grip—

“Blood spray, comin’ at ya!”

He pulled the trigger, and exactly what he announced happened.

Blood erupted at point-blank range, instantly bursting into flames.

“Don’t screw with me…!”

But Lonzder had already synced her movements.

Increasing the mass of her extended right fist while lightening the rest of her body to the limit, she kicked off the ground—

A high-speed side-flip, pivoting around her right arm, dodging the explosion.

The flames barely licked her leg, but that was no issue.

She landed, redistributed her weight mid-roll, and sprang up to counterattack Whisper’s exposed back—

“Wha───”

But then she saw it.

[Viblade], stabbed straight into the ground—and the demon pushing off it, upside-down.

“Nice. The detective’s shocked face? Priceless.”

At nearly the same moment Lonzder flipped, he’d plunged the spinning saw into the floor—using it as a pivot to launch himself upward.

Now, [Viblade]’s ejection port was aimed right at her.

“Shi───”

“Eat this.”

A slash of explosive blood hammered into Lonzder.

The flames struck the gem point-blank, erupting into a blossom of fire.

She crossed her arms in desperation, but the shockwave still hit her fully.

Lonzder was hurled backward, her spine slamming into a stone pillar.

“Guh…!”

“Hyahaha! Bet that stung!”

Whisper immediately pursued—but not without keeping an eye on his surroundings.

If the Hell Hound charged in, he’d just counter with the spinning blade.

To Whisper, Elteel wasn’t much of a threat.

A big body was perfect for counters. Like the detective said, just placing [Viblade] in the path of an attack could deal fatal damage. Even if the beast’s claws or fangs tore into him, the demon’s exploding blood would spray back—easy to exploit.

Elteel wasn’t stupid enough to miss that.

“Hyahaha…!”

So while staying wary, Whisper charged at Lonzder, slumped against the pillar.

He pulled [Viblade] back with his entire right arm—then drove it forward in a thrust.

“Tch…!”

The gem dropped her body low, dodging—but that was expected.

Instantly, Whisper yanked the trigger of [Viblade], now embedded deep in the stone.

The explosion came from inside the pillar.

“You’re burning through your own blood—trying to kill yourself!?”

“The hell’s wrong with you!? I do what I want, how I want! Of course I’m betting my life! Get it!?”

“Speak in words I can understand*…!”

The blast erupted directly behind Lonzder—yet she didn’t move. She let her hardened body take the full brunt, enduring both heat and force. Even the demon had to admire that resilience.

But it left her frozen in place.

So—

“RIP AND TEAR!”

“────《Unsullied gem Anvil Maiden》!”

The demon brought [Viblade] down.

A direct hit.

The [Dordinium] blade split the red-patterned left arm Lonzder raised in desperation—

“Hyahaha! No way, that’s too hard!”

Blood sprayed—but the bone held.

“Grr… RAAAAH!”

“Whoa!?”

The gem howled, swinging her left arm downward. The spinning saw, still lodged in her flesh, was wrenched down with it.

Whisper’s stance broke—and Lonzder’s rising kick connected.

“Ugh—!?”

The demon’s left forearm, raised in defense, shattered in one strike.

Lonzder’s left arm was gouged, her posture unstable—yet she still unleashed that much force.

Yeah, she was a monster.

But—

“───Tearing your flesh is enough, right!?”

The gem’s left arm exploded. The blood injected when the saw bit in had done its work.

“Gh────”

Lonzder was blasted away, tumbling across the ground before forcing herself up—but the damage to her left arm was severe.

No matter how much she reinforced her body’s density, an internal explosion was devastating.

“Haah… hah… ha…!”

Her left arm hung limply at her side, her shoulders heaving with labored breaths—there was no trace of composure left in her.

Whisper’s left arm was similarly shattered, but with his face engulfed in flames, it hardly mattered now.

“About time we finish this, detective!”

He roared, charged, and the instant he tried to deliver another blow—

Behind the gem, he saw a pair of crimson eyes burning yellow.

“────Here it comes!”

The hellhound.

Even Lonzder, despite her disadvantage, couldn’t be left unchecked—but for the demon, this was just as well.

“Come at me────!”

Whisper had absolute confidence in his unparalleled reflexes. No matter how the hound attacked, he could counter it.

Whether it tried to save the gem or strike at him directly—either was fine.

With razor-sharp focus, Whisper braced for the hellhound’s assault—

“Pardon me.”

“Guh—!?”

The hellhound slammed the gem to the ground with its massive forepaw.

“Hah?”

For a second, his thoughts froze. He hadn’t anticipated that move.

The faint amusement at the gem’s frog-like croak of pain barely registered before Whisper saw it—

“Rroooh…!”

“Tch──”

The hellhound’s maw, wide open.

His body moved on reflex, dodging the crushing fangs—

“《Black Demon Dog Bratskdog────ROAR》!”

The shockwave of the roar hammered into the demon’s entire body.
