A Teacher, But I’m Feared as a Witch Volume 3 chapter 2 part 1

Chapter 2: Home Visit

Originally, I had planned to include one day off per week. So, I decided to conduct the home visit on that day.

“I’m going to pay a visit to Shenley-san’s family home to offer my greetings.”

When I announced this, Eliza spat out the soup she had been drinking.

“Pfft! Eh, ehhh!?”

“Kyaa!?”

Liz, who had been sitting across from Eliza, screamed and stood up.

The dining table was wide, so the damage seemed minimal, but spitting out soup was inappropriate. By the way, we were currently having breakfast together on our day off.

“Please calm down.”

“How can I possibly calm down!?”

When I tried to admonish her, I got scolded instead. I had no choice but to close my mouth and assume a listening posture. Then, Eliza also straightened her posture, cleared her throat, and opened her mouth.

“This is too sudden. Why Shenley-san’s house? I’m extremely worried…”

“I heard that Shenley-san has to quit the academy and return to her family home. So, I’m going to personally try to persuade her parents.”

“Oh…”

Eliza made a strange sound and looked up at the sky. For a moment, I thought I saw Headmaster Glen’s figure, but it was probably my imagination.

“Will you be alright? I’ve never heard of a teacher going directly to someone’s home,”

Strauss, who had been listening from the side, confirmed with a somewhat worried expression. I nodded and spread out the letter I had received from Shenley.

“The letter simply stated that she should return home. The academy would be recorded as a mid-term withdrawal, and they would handle the communication from their end. Naturally, the person herself couldn’t accept this, and I can’t leave it as is either.”

When I said this, Strauss crossed his arms and groaned.

“That’s true. But it might be better if Aoi doesn’t go.”

I tilted my head when Strauss showed reluctance. Seeing this, Strauss let out a shallow breath.

“…Now, Aoi has become not only a representative of Fidic Academy, but also an important person recognized by the Maple Leaf Emperor and the current Saint and Holy Maiden. If word gets out that such an important person strongly condemned the Rosenstiel Viscount family, there’s a high possibility that it would become subject to some form of external punishment.”

Court and Eliza nodded at those words, and Shenley furrowed her brow anxiously.

“It’s alright. I’ll go as just one teacher to have a conversation. Besides, I was able to achieve good results with Rocks-kun’s parent-teacher conference.”

I’ll persuade them skillfully. That’s what I thought when I said it, but everyone looked down at the table without looking at me.

Flight magic consumes a fair amount of magical power, but it’s convenient and highly practical. I strongly felt this during today’s travel.

After all, I was able to cover a distance that would normally take nearly a week by carriage in just about an hour. When considering the world’s future development, it might be good to offer lectures on flight magic.

The floating sensation of the carriage changed softly, and we landed gently on the ground.

“Now, Shenley-san. We’ve arrived.”

When I said this and opened the carriage door, Shenley timidly came out.

“Y-yes…!?”

Then, noticing the situation around us, she gasped. On the road where the carriage had landed, not only the road but the surrounding area was filled with countless soldiers holding swords in formation.

The number was in the hundreds or thousands. The sight of soldiers in imposing gear holding their swords was quite intimidating.

“State your business in this Rosenstiel Viscount territory! Answer!”

A bearded soldier shouted. No, he was mounted on a horse and wore an impressive cape. Perhaps he was a knight.

While thinking such things, I looked around once more, confirmed again that there was no threat, and opened my mouth.

“I am a teacher at Fidic Academy, and my name is Aoi Konominato. The other day, Shenley-san, who is the Viscount’s biological child, received a letter with instructions to return home, so I escorted her here.”

When I said this, someone among the soldiers noticed Shenley.

“Shenley-sama?”

“Have you returned?”

In response to those voices, the soldiers’ hostility and wariness gradually faded.

The bearded knight looked at Shenley standing behind me and furrowed his brow as if troubled.

“…It does appear to be Shenley-sama, but I haven’t heard anything about this. I apologize, but I’d like you to wait there without moving for a while.”

After saying this, the knight quickly turned his horse around and headed toward the town.

Though it was hard to see through the human wall of soldiers, there was a small town beyond the road. Walls about three meters high continued around it, distinguishing the inside and outside of the town.

Even after the knight left, being watched by the soldiers made me feel uncomfortable.

“…A-Aoi-sensei.”

Suddenly, Shenley called my name in an anxious voice. When I turned around, I saw Shenley standing in front of the carriage door with her head down, looking up at me.

“It’s alright. I’ll speak with them properly.”

I said this to reassure her, but Shenley just looked at me with an indescribable expression.

“The confirmation has been completed. Please come this way.”

The knight returned and announced this.

“I see. Then, we’ll proceed by carriage. I apologize, but it would be helpful if you could guide us.”

When I answered, the knight nodded slightly and suddenly looked at the carriage with a furrowed brow.

“Of course, but that carriage doesn’t have horses…”

He started to say this and then had a look of realization. I nodded silently in return and exercised flight magic.

“This carriage doesn’t need horses.”

When I said this and sat in the driver’s seat of the carriage, the knight pulled his chin with a stern expression.

“…Understood. I apologize, but we’ll attach an escort so the surroundings don’t get agitated. Please forgive us.”

“I understand. Please take care of us.”

When I replied, the knight quickly began to move. He called out to the soldiers, and about thirty of them formed a line to surround the carriage. Then, the other soldiers also ran back to the town.

Just as I thought when I saw the knight order of the Holy Capital, their movements were indeed different from those of ruffians.

Even after arriving in town, they gave instructions efficiently and proceeded through the town with almost no waiting.

“Whoa, it’s floating!”

“Who’s inside?”

“Did a court magician come from the Holy Capital?”

Noisy voices echoed throughout the town, and the surrounding soldiers warned people not to make a commotion.

The inside of the town was cleaner than I had expected. There seemed to be fewer residents relative to the town’s size, but it didn’t appear to be obviously poor either.

More than that, I was concerned about Shenley, who hadn’t shown her face from the carriage at all despite this being her homecoming after a long time.

“We’ve arrived.”

While I was thinking about such things, we arrived at our destination. In front of the carriage was a particularly large mansion. There was a courtyard in front of it, surrounded by a fence.

When the double steel gates were opened by soldiers, I noticed someone standing in front of the mansion.

It was an elderly butler dressed in clothing similar to a black suit.

“…Welcome. To the Rosenstiel Viscount family.”

The butler said this in a calm voice and bowed deeply. Hearing that voice, Shenley poked her head out of the carriage.

“Louis.”

When Shenley murmured this, the butler called Louis slightly relaxed his cheeks and softened his expression.

“Welcome home, Shenley-ojousama.”

“…I’m home.”

Welcomed by Louis, Shenley also replied with a slight smile. It seemed that Louis was someone Shenley found easy to interact with. While watching the two of them with some relief, Louis turned his gaze back to me.

“…Nice to meet you. I am Aoi Konominato, a teacher at Fidic Academy.”

When I greeted him and bowed my head, Louis also bowed again in response and opened his mouth.

“Thank you for your politeness. Now then, this way. I’ll guide you. Knight Commander, please join us as well.”

“Understood.”

The bearded knight nodded in response to Louis’s words. It seemed that the bearded knight was the Knight Commander. Perhaps for surveillance and restraint, the Knight Commander positioned himself closely behind me.

Louis confirmed this and entered the mansion, with Shenley and me following. The Knight Commander was at the rear. It seemed the other soldiers would wait at the gate.

Upon entering the mansion, there was a very well-cleaned, beautiful, and spacious entrance hall with corridors continuing to the left, right, and back. Perhaps because the windows were a bit small, the interior was somewhat dim.

Proceeding down the back corridor, there were stairs, and Louis quickly went up them. As expected from appearances, the inside of the mansion was quite spacious.

After walking for a while, we arrived in front of a room at the back of the second floor. Compared to other doors, it had a more substantial construction, indicating it was the door to an important room.

When Louis lightly knocked on the door and called out, the door was opened from inside. Two knights in beautiful armor opened the door and gestured for us to enter.

“Excuse me. I’ve brought the guests.”
